Palm Tree Days

I love photos that can transport you away to a particular happy moment in your life or cloak you in a feeling of peace and contentment.

Ditto for this image.

I took it on my trip to Napier earlier this year (near the end of the summer season) when the skies were clear and blue, and the sun shone bright and warm.

It was such a pleasure to be out and about in the fresh air, listening to the gentle whoosh of the waves on the nearby beach and feeling the breeze rustle your hair and kiss your heated skin.

Napier has an abundance of palm trees that add to the tropical feeling about the place and perfectly complement the art deco nature of the city’s architecture. If often reminds me of Miami (of which I have never visited so whether this is true or not I may never know but pictures I have seen lend itself to the comparison).

I was on holiday and had nothing better to do than take pictures and enjoy being somewhere so lovely. It was calm. It was soothing. Life was as we wish it could be always.

So when the days get a little hectic, I fondly gaze at the palm trees and am instantly back in that blissful summer moment.
