My Monthly TBR Picks: September

So here we are for the second installment of my monthly attempt at mini TBR picks. I had seven choices last month which I think was too many so I have reduced it to four. So what’s on the menu?

  • A Darker Shade of Magic (Fantasy)
  • House Across The Street (Historical Fiction)
  • The Haunting of Tram Car 015 (SciFi/Fantasy/Steampunk/Historical – Novella)
  • Girl, Other, Woman (Contemporary/Literary)

I have been really wanting to read another Fantasy book for a while so I have included one of that genre, A Darker Shade of Magic, by an author (V.E. Schwab) that I have become interested in the the last wee while. And I have also had my eye on the Booker Prize winning Girl, Other, Woman for a number of months and felt that it would fit the bill as a woman centric, inclusive story that I was looking for, with the added bonus of having a slightly unusual narrative style. And to round it out I have thrown in a Lesley Pearce that has been in my library for a while and a very interesting sounding novella to change things up if I feel the need.

There are no graphic novels this month as I haven’t been able to find anything that grabs me. I am finding myself to be quite picky when it comes to this genre. Maybe in October?

And remember, this is a selection of books from which I will hopefully be able to complete 2, maybe even 3 if I’m diligent. I don’t mean to read them all in the 30 days of September because I know that won’t happen.

So, best wishes to everyone for their upcoming reading. I hope you find some treasure contained on the pages xxxx
